Picture quality of Al Jazeera Sport channel 1-10 on hotbird is not very good. What's the problem with saying that? I'm hoping they will launch an HD channel for the top matches soon. If you don't know that's ok and yes I bought my reciever and card from totalsat....
Yes its quite Macro blocky due to their low baud rate, but in saying this its better than Art sports picture ever was & not alot worse than live ITV coverage picture quality (When they actually have any that is!) but the fact is for value for money & access to games not availible on any u.k. side (3 p.m. SPL kick offs for example!) they cant be beat!
Yes im very happy I got JSC! Don't get me wrong. I just know they have a HD channel and looking forward to get it on hotbird also. But I don't know what plans they have. That's why I was asking..
I dont think the HD channel will ever appear on Hotbird, if it ever was I get the feeling it would have joined the channel line up by now! The thing that really gets me is the fact they still have all 10 channels broadcasting on the original old frequency 11295.00 H, this is bandwidth that could be used for the HD channel etc!
With the ART Sport channels going off air there are now a few that are coming up entitled 'Spare' or something like that but that are not broadcasting anything. I assume these are the old channel positions that now belong to AJ so who knows. Not quite sure of the frequency off hand but if you rescan on the Showtime Maghreb frequency you might just be surprised by what else you find if you havn't done so already.
I am at a lose, my receiver had already done a automatic update & has removed the Art sports line up & added the Art general entertainment & movie channels & the channels named spare as you said, but whats the surprise you speak of??

Now I thought that this was the 1 channel that is on nilesat but was checking out the website earlier as you do on a saturday and it actually looks like a totally new channel. I do seem to remember seeing something along the lines of a new news channel being launched so this might be it but there was a live game on from the middle east earlier today. Hope this helps.
