Irdeto is cr*p! Arrgh!!

Since I bought an Irdeto card & SMIT Irdeto CAM to replace my original Viaccess card I have not been impressed at all! I always put my receiver into standby, but never turn off the power to keep the CAM's that are in it as "Fresh" as I can, with my Viaccess card the channels would clear in a matter of seconds & I never had any channels refuse to descramble but with Irdeto the channels can take any where up to around THREE minutes to desramble from first switch on (On average it takes about a minute plus) & I have now had send a refresh signal to the card twice in the space of a month. The first time was two days after I got the card, I had been watching the channels the afternoon prior, but the next day when I came home from work & switched on the receiver the whole channel pack refused to clear, I left it on JSC +3 for over a half hour but nothing happened, I went to Aljazeera.net's self service page & sent the refresh signal, within about ten seconds +3 sprung to life & all other channels were fine aswell. Today I came home from work & switched my receiver on & waited for the channel clear (+3) it did (After the usual minute wait!) and I started to go up the channels only to discover that +5 to +8 were not clearing (Though according to the SMIT CAM's "Card Information" Menu opition: E26 Service is currently Descrambled) So off I popped to the self service App again to get +5 to +8 to clear which they did after a short wait (Ten seconds or so). This is my first sub that has used Irdeto & I now left wishing I had upgraded my original Viaccess card! A mate has told me that his dealer recomended he leave his receiver switched on for an hour each day to keep the keys up to date, If this is the case Irdeto sucks even harder than I had first thought! I could leave my receiver in standby for days & have no problems with Viaccess. Anybody else having similar problems!?

using viacess, i find either 1-4 become scrambled for hours on end or - as is currently (2100 gmt, 30.12.09) the case - 5-8 become scrambled.

i fear this will happen when i want to watch a game.

Is your card a upgraded card, and is your CAM a offical Viaccess CAM, i.e. SMIT or SMarTV make, because for me the Viaccess was flawless in relation to this going off garbage!

I seem to remember the ts team saying before that this is actually more an issue with the hotbird broadcast than the encryption type - perhaps why both are playing up? The problem I have is that it's been going on for moths now and it's still not fixed. It's interesting that you say you can access the self service refresh site though. If you're not middle east based I and i'm sure several others would be grateful to find out how you go about it, cheers neil

I have a CAM which can read all formats, or so I was told when I bought the receiver (the Technomate 1500 CI+). My card was renewed asnd upgraded. It was originally valid for 12 months for channels 1-4 only.

Go into tools, select "Internet Opitions" click on the "Connections" tab click on LAN settings button, check the "Use proxy server" box, then put this number in the address info box 212.116.220.100 & then put 443 in the port box, press o.k. button to shut that panel & the o.k. button on the last panel, job done. To all intents & purposes you are now in the U.A.E. You are only allowed to send 3 refresh signals per day, but if you need to send more than this, there is something far wrong! Normally take's about 30 seconds but give it 30 minutes tops, otherwise bang out another one!, Another bit of free advice is this if a channels locked out to you, just leave the receiver on a scrambled channel & then send the signal & wait, DO NOT go into your receivers CAM menu etc, leave alone or it might not process the signal because of your p*ssing about!! Hope this helps you guys.

People please remember these 2 points:

The Problems with Al Jazeera Sport is on its Hotbird broadcast and not Irdeto or Viaccess specific but both type of cards

Until today they still have not released any new Viaccess cards and even viaccess has it own share of problems and all current JSC viaccess cards are renewed to old expired cards - and that is why they seem to be short in stock

I have the same problem. It says: scrambled channel or no signal. I have to turn of and on the reciever. Take the card out and insert it one more time,switch between JSC 2-3-4. Then it suddenly starts to work. Its like this every day. But as long as I can see Serie A in the end I can do everyting
