I am thinking about getting Canal Plus HD
I am in France at the moment for a few days.
Please can you advise me. If I get a Subscription here will I be able to use it in South East London?
Back in London I ve got Sky digital can I use the same sky mini dish?
If not which dish should I use ( 45 cm, 60 cm?)
Regards,
E Cibaly

Technically, yes it will work, but it has to be activated in France first -note: you will not be able to use certain interactive CANAL services that require a phone line, and you must never tell CANAL you are taking the box to the UK (they will stop your card, because you are not allowed)

It works, but we recommend you upgrade the dish to a 60cm for best signal

Broadcast conflicts, monopoly strategy illegally agreed under the table between major providers (like CANAL, SKY, PREMIERE, DIGITAL+...) that no provider is allowed to market directly cross border (although illegal under Eu treaties), bottom line is; if you tell CANAL that your box is being used in the UK, it will be deactivated remotely: They will do it, I assure you.
When you activate the HD box in France; install it, activate the card and watch the channels you bought for 1 hour or 2, then when you decide to bring the box to UK, it will not connect to CANAL for activation (it wouldn't work from here) -so as if you and the box are still in 'France

NOTE: This procedure only applies to CANAL HD, conventional CANAL Cards can be activated anywhere, although need to be registered in France

You will have to use a separate 45 or 60cm dish for CANAL, since CANAL and SKY UK use different satellites aka directions -or; to avoid having 2 dishes, you will need an 80cm single dish and a skilled installer to fit both direction on 1 single 80cm fixed dish (you can get the dish in the UK).
CANAL Activation can be done same day in France.

You can use either 45 or 60cm for CANAL or for SKY, we recommend 60cm for CANAL but you can use 45cm dish if you have restrictions

E Cibaly:

I meant the CANAL HD box CAN and WILL work in the UK only if it has been pre-activated in France.

E Cibaly:

Yes you can use the HD on a normal TV for activation and then bring it to UK.
