Thumbs up Guide to: Backup and restore channels lists on GlobalStar receivers

Many people are asking how to backup channels lists in case you mess up the box or you accidentally delete a list or everything, which happens often.

To start, we want to note that very few boxes actually allow you to created a SDX channels lists backup and restore, so NOT all the boxes can do this feature.
You can also use this method to share channels lists or to set more than 1 box on same settings...

How to BACKUP channels and favourites lists on GlobalStar boxes ONLY:

This procedure is compatible with most GlobalStar boxes;
  • GlobalStar 7100
  • GlobalStar 7500
  • GlobalStar 9000
  • GlobalStar 9500
  • GlobalStar 6000
STEP A:

  1. Make sure you have a USB stick (recommeded) to use with this procedure Or an external hard drive (if you use an external HDD)
  2. Insert the USB Stick at the back of your GlobalSar box.

STEP B:
  1. Press MENU button on Remote control of your GLOBALSTAR
  2. Go to USB CONTROL press OK, then OK again on USB MENU
  3. Press YELLOW (i) button for the Upload menu,
  4. Select Upload Data... press OK
  5. Pressing OK will select that file
  6. You get a message on screen: (Do you want to update upload database?) select YES
  7. Now you have an SDX channels file on your USB Stick (note the file name)
  8. DONE

How to RESTORE channels and favourites lists on GlobalStar boxes ONLY:

STEP C

  1. Make sure you have the same USB stick (recommeded) that was used in the backup procedure above.
  2. Insert the USB Stick at the back of your GlobalSar box.
STEP D:
  1. Press MENU button on Remote control of your GLOBALSTAR
  2. Go to USB CONTROL press OK, then OK again on USB MENU
  3. Look for the SDX file created in STEP B.7 (e.g: Globalstar7xxxCXDatabase.SDX)
  4. Pressing OK will select that file
  5. You get a message on screen: (Do you want to update software/database?) select YES
  6. Wait through the: Updating data message, do not power off at this stage
  7. DONE

If you have any problems during this procedure or if you need more help, please reply to this thread.

DO NOT USE this procedure with any other box, Only use with boxes listed above.
