Solution 1/
If you are French and you can't live without the famous 2 channels TF1 and M6, then this FRENCH ANALOGUE SYSTEM is suitable for you -keeping in mind few requirements.
To have this system workinG as it was intended (at its best) you need a SECAM TV - If you have TV that is PAL only like all cheap brands, very old screens or any PANASONIC then you will get the picture in Black and White, unless you use a SECAM to PAL Converter.
This system requires a dish of 60cm and is Free to air, paid as one-off £235.
Please note: Anologue signal will eventually switch off predicted in 2009/10
Then all the equipment will be compatible with any new box you fit, but you will need to upgrade the box at a cost of about £100

Solution 2/
If you want a stable system that works on any screen, digital picture and no upgrade required then this FRENCH DIGITAL FREEVIEW is for you -keeping in mind this system will not give you access to TF1 and M6 more info on this.

Solution 3/
Chose any of the following FRENCH PAY TV PACKAGES compatible with any TV, great picture, tons on channels -card has to be renewed yearly.

All 3 solution will not interfere with any channels you already have, with your freeview or Aerial.

I just want to know if there is somebody out there who is on the ball about TNT Satellite TV. It seems to me that TNT is on satellite (Astra 19?) and you need a special TNT satellite receiver.

As far as I can see there are two types of receiver A Sagem ISD 91 and a Strong SRT 6420, not sure about cards etc. I was thinking about having a satellite set up in Scotland and one in France and taking the box between the two houses.

This seems to be a fast developing area.

Cheers for now,

David

Totalsat Team
Hello Totalsat Team
I've just had Phoenix Apollo CI + MC and Astra + Hotbird channels. I get all the main french channels (including M6 + TF1) without card or subscription. Perhaps this is the neatest solution for other readers wanting one-off payment for French TV.
Will I be affected by the new CanalSat arrangement next year ??

You are only watching these French channels because the Apollo is emulating an official TPS card -is like it has a copy of the rights from an original card on its chip- so you get the channels to work, this is great and you get many channels.
But it will eventually stop working when encryption changes or when the rights on board expire.
This is very common on new receiver -you buy a new box, you find many cool channels working but they only last for few weeks or months at most
All satellite dealers chip the receivers with some sort of software to emulate some card. But since Pay TV providers change encryption every 6, 9 or 12 weeks they all tend not to last

In addition to all the above, people who do follow on this should know this is piracy

Thanks for your advice. Funny that, the installer never mentioned piracy !When encryption changes will I still get French FTA channels through automatic updates and if not, how do I (legally) re-configure receiver to pick them up?

There is no such this as automatic updates for free to air french channels
If you have french free channels legitimatly, then you shouldn't worry about updates

A friend recently invested in a FS-4200 Digital Satellite Receiver and a dish for receiving free view French channels. However, despite your information here, he was surprised to find that the signals from Atlantic Bird 3 for France 2, France 3, France 5, LCP and Arte are all scrambled! What do we need to do to unscramble these channels? Please help.

Manually tune the following frequency, it only works manually on certain boxes:

Freq: 11591 V
Symbol Rate: 20000
FEC: 2/3
