Because TF1 and M6 are Owned by TPS on Digital - that is why they are still available in Analogue signal for Free on Atlantic B 5W

Any idea when TF1 and M6 will be available digitally together with the other channels 2,3...etc and will they be free to view?

Cheers

ST

the french equivalent of Freeview - TNT - is shortly to begin transmission from Atlantic Bird 3 at 5 deg W. Although it hasn't been formally agreed yet it is "likely" that TF1 and M6 will be available in DVB-S as part of the TNT package. This may all be in palce by Xmas 2006.

Press reports are saying a viewing card will be needed - probably using viaccess encryption - and this will be available for a one off fee of around 20 euros.

Hope this helps

Bonsoir Monsieur

I noticed your post on 7th Oct 2006 and am wondering if there is any further news. I am looking for a free-to-air source of the 'usual' channels ie the ones available on terrestrial UHF, which I receive when the conditions are favorable. Failing a more sensitive UHF installation, I will be forced to invest in digital satellite but this does seem like a good way forward from a quality standpoint anyway.

Thanks for your help.

The good news, is that M6 is now also available on Atlantic Brid as Free to Air. So now you can watch:

. France 2
. France 3
. France 4
. France 5
. Arte
. M6 (new)
. LCP

TF1 also may join soon, but no official confirmation yet

Further to previous replies - how would I go about receiving TF1 analogue through a digital receiver.

I was advised when I bought the system that I could receive TF1 (my only reason for purchasing) but now it is installed I cannot receive it.

Any help greatly appreciated.

C Stevenson
You can not watch TF1 for free on a digital receiver (maybe in future)
To watch TF1, you need to have an analogue receiver not digital. To have an analogue receiver, your TV must work on SECAM mode if not you will get the picture with no colour.
